技术发展使新闻生产中出现了无需人干涉的自动化现象，并成为近年来备受关注的研究议题。本文在对已有自动化新闻话语进行分析的基础上，提出可从“嵌入实践的技术”这一新视角来理解自动化新闻。新闻实践是由不同新闻工作组成的链条，不同新闻工作所要处理事实的可数据化程度和进行价值判断的复杂程度决定了自动化技术在新闻工作中的嵌入可能。通过对近20年来自动化新闻创新项目的分析，本文初步验证了这一实践主导的理论视角，指出了自动化新闻创新发展的三类主要方向，并提出了要警惕的相关风险。
